Often considered the most convenient and desirable area in Reno, the Southwest primarily consists of three neighborhoods. Nearest to downtown you’ll find Reno’s “old” southwest area. Tree-lined streets and brick homes built 1920 – 1960 dominate the landscape. Here it’s not uncommon to see a million dollar+ home one block away from a well-tended bungalow. Walkability and a great sense of community abound. Farther southwest the topography changes a bit allowing for hillside homes, large lot sizes and commanding views of downtown. Here, the Lakeridge development surrounds one of the most playable golf courses in the area (my opinion of course). Finally, to the west and adjoining the river lies Caughlin Ranch. This 2,300 acre master planned community is known for its beautiful custom homes, delightfully tended common areas and big views in every direction. Schools are mostly considered very good. Local tip: I simply can’t overstate the overall convenience of this neighborhood. Certain portions of this zip code include high density, multifamily dwellings which does skew the census and sales numbers a bit.
