The urban core of Reno is the heart of the region’s extraordinary revitalization. The changes have been hasty and extreme; just 20 years ago, the core wasn’t considered a very desirable place to live. While the residential choices are somewhat limited, the lifestyle opportunities are boundless. These neighborhoods are rich in world class restaurants and entertainment. However, what really sets them apart are the countless activities within walking distance.
Wingfield Park is the central jewel; home of the Riverwalk District, amphitheatre, and whitewater kayaking/rafting park (How many people can say they have a kayak course in their backyard?) Head south to Midtown for eclectic shopping and restaurants or a visit to the Nevada Museum of Art. Just to the east is the delightful Reno Aces AAA ballpark and National Automobile Museum. Additionally, you can walk/jog/bike along the Truckee River bike path for miles in each direction. Nearby are the two largest regional medical centers and the University of Nevada campus
Developments in downtown include The Palladio, Arlington Towers, The Montage, and Park Tower among others, with more under development. Choose from affordable studios to luxury penthouses offering a wide variety of amenities. Midtown contains mostly brick early and mid-century single-family homes with a few newer developments thrown in. As typical of high density neighborhoods, price per square foot and condo maintenance fees are generally higher than areas further from the core. On the other hand, for those craving an urban, carefree and active lifestyle, this is the region’s answer. Local Tip: Best area to live without a car, lots of cyclists and pedestrians.
